This month, Knight Development joined city officials and community leaders to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Salina RAD Homes—a transformative milestone for affordable housing in Salina, Kansas.
Salina RAD Homes represents a $23.7 million reinvestment into the community, revitalizing 118 scattered-site units across the city. In partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Salina, Knight Development led the conversion and rehabilitation of single-family homes, duplexes, row-houses, and quadraplexes. Through a strategic blend of RAD and Section 18 funding, the project includes 24 RAD units and 94 PBV units—each upgraded to meet modern standards of safety, comfort, and energy efficiency.
The renovation brings more than just structural updates. Families now enjoy new kitchens and bathrooms, upgraded HVAC systems, energy-efficient appliances, refreshed interiors and exteriors, and improved accessibility features. These homes, which range from one to three bedrooms, are the foundation for stronger, healthier, and more stable lives.
“Affordable housing is about more than bricks and mortar—it’s about dignity, stability, and opportunity,” said Holly Knight, CEO of Knight Development. “We’re proud to have worked alongside the Housing Authority and our partners to preserve and enhance this vital community asset.”
